Northwest Missouri State continued its work rewriting the record books with a 92-40 win over St. Mary (KS) Thursday evening.

The Bearcats (4-0) win streak now stands at 43 consecutive games breaking the previous MIAA record of 42 which was also held by Northwest. The old mark spanned the entire 1929-30 season and 11 games of the 1930-31 schedule. That Bearcat team was coached by the legendary Henry Iba.

The Bearcats and Spires played close for the first 13 minutes of the game with only five points separating the teams. That changed when Northwest turned up the heat.

The 'Cats went on a 50-10 run that started with 6:48 remaining in the first half and lasted until the 9:15 mark in the second half. Northwest's lead went from 24-19 to 74-29 during that span.

Diego Bernard led all scorers with 20 points. He also posted his first double-double of the season as he added 10 rebounds, five assists and six steals.

Ryan Hawkins also contributed a double-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Trevor Hudgins wasn't far behind with nine points, 10 assists, two rebounds and two steals.

Luke Waters and Daric Laing also scored a career-highs off the bench with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Northwest is off for a week until meeting William Jewell Thursday, November 21 in Bearcat Arena at 7:30pm.
